A Comprehensive Summer Camp

Management Program

For over 35 years, Kidcam Summer Camp Programs have provided a comprehensive summer day camp solution for schools and communities, generating much needed revenue for capital improvements and projects.  With a total of 14 Kidcam camps in South Louisiana, almost half of which have been in existence for over 10 years, schools/churches depend on the experience and dedication Kidcam brings to their community each and every summer.

Year round Kidcam works tirelessly to ensure that its camps provide a safe, wholesome, and exciting summer program for its campers.  Field trip vendors are scheduled; handbooks are updated; staffs are trained; contracts are signed; children are registered; camps are monitored, and financial reports are generated.  These are just a few of the services Kidcam provides for its camps.

There is no secret to Kidcam’s success.  Experience is the key.  Mario Bazile, owner of Kidcam, has over 17 years of summer camp experience.  Before taking over the company, Mr. Bazile worked for Kidcam in jobs ranging from counselor in training to camp director.  With a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education, he knows and understands children, which is the foundation for organizing and running a successful program.  Another member of the administrative team is Jim Stubbs, founder of Kidcam. Mr. Stubbs has over 30 years of experience in successful summer day camp operations.  His extensive educational background and a genuine love for children has guided and directed his actions to excellence.  Mr. Stubbs truly understands the benefits of a well-designed, comprehensive summer day camp program, and works extensively to make it happen.

Kidcam’s proven formula for successful summer camp programs speaks for itself.  Take a look at the facts of Kidcam camps for the Summer of 2008.

  • 87 different activity vendors used to provide an extraordinary day camp experience for the campers.
  • Over 2,500 campers enrolled in Kidcam camps.
  • 400 Kidcam staff members were hired and trained to provide a safe, fun environment.
  • Over $270,000 raised for participating schools for capital improvements, projects and equipment.

Many details need to be considered when starting up a new summer day camp program.  From logo design to staff training, Kidcam does it all.  The work however does not stop when summer camp is over.  Kidcam works during each “off-season,” upgrading and evaluating each program individually.  Every effort is made to insure that day camp as a whole is always fresh and exciting each summer.

Some start-up and ongoing services Kidcam provides are:

Logo Design –Kidcam has designed a unique logo for summer camp that will be used on all camp apparel and marketing mediums.

Copyrighted Handbooks and Forms – Kidcam’s handbooks and forms is one of the things that make a Kidcam program unique.  These documents, through many years of additions and modifications, provide valuable information to the day camp staff for running a smooth organized and profitable camp.  Some of the publications include a Camp Directors Handbook, Counselor Handbook, and a Parent/Camper Handbook.

Hiring of Staff – An excellent staff is vital to the success of summer day camp.  From camp director to counselor-in-training, each staff member has an important role to play while working at summer camp.  Kidcam plans and schedules the application process for every staff member hired to work at camp.  Each interviewee goes through a rigorous interview to ensure that the best candidates are hired for the job.

Training of Staff – Certain procedures and guidelines must be followed to insure the safety and well being of all campers and staff alike.  Kidcam’s staff training program does just that.  Kidcam trains all personnel in one-on-one and group sessions.  Every facet of day camp operations is covered and all new and returning staff members are required to attend.  A job description is also provided to each employee, which is used for accountability.

Marketing – Without campers, there would be no summer day camp.  Months before the first day of camp, Kidcam strategically markets each individual camp to the community at large to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of the incredible programs and services each camp has to offer.  Some marketing mediums include an informative website, mass mailings and e-mailings, newspaper ads, magazine ads, flyers, brochures, newsletters, church bulletins, and exposure at children’s expos and events.

Scheduling of Activities – The foundation for a great summer camp program lies in its activities.  “Happy Campers” generally come back each year because the fun is non-stop and ever changing.  Kidcam schedules both on and off campus vendors in year round to ensure availability and variety.

Year after year, Kidcam has provided its camp with the management they need to be successful.

While all the camps are only in session for 6-10 weeks out of the summer, Kidcam’s services go on year round.

Here are some services Kidcam provides:

Full Time Office – Located in Kenner, LA, Kidcam staffs an office year round to conduct the business of all the camps.  This office provides a central location for mailing and informational purposes.  Kidcam also has a comprehensive website and a toll-free number for all inquiries on any camp.

Before and After Camp Sessions – During the months of January – May, Kidcam is busy scheduling activities, hiring staff, training staff, and securing advertisements.  Once all of the camps close at the end of July, Kidcam works August thru December to collect all unpaid fees, create financial reports, upgrade handbooks and forms, and analyze parent surveys.  This is just a small sample of the incredible amount of work Kidcam undergoes during the “off-season.”

Bus Transportation System and Pool Contracts – Kidcam secures bus drivers for field trips.  Kidcam also signs pool contracts with area country clubs to provide a safe and exciting swimming experience for all campers.

Onsite and Online Camp Registrations – Kidcam registrations are very important to the success of the day camps.  Onsite registrations give parents the opportunity to lock in a spot for their child at camp, find out more information, buy apparel, and pay fees. We also provide online registration and parents may monitor their children’s account during camp.

Weekly Schedules – Each week of camp, all parents may view a weekly schedule on line that describes the activities for that week.  The schedules provide important information to the parents such as swimming days and off-campus field trips.

Evaluation – Kidcam conducts on-going evaluations of each camp during the summer session to ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed.  From financial matters to the safety of the campers, a Kidcam management staff member visits each camp regularly and provides commendations for a job well done, as well as recommendations for improvement.

Kidcam offers a summer day camp program for boys and girls ages 3-13.  The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  In addition, before and after camp child-care is available.  Camps have the option of running a program ranging in duration from 6 to 10 weeks.

Some of the typical activities may include skating, swimming, bowling, water sliding, karate lessons, miniature golf, arts and crafts, yoga and fitness, field trips, movies, giant inflatables, computer lab, and a variety of indoor activities.  In addition, we feature relay races, swimming meets, talent contests, magic shows, live musical concerts and various entertainers such as clowns, DJ’s, storytellers, puppeteers, and much more.

Each week, medals are given to outstanding boys and girls in each age group.  Additionally, Camper of the Year and Runner-Up Camper of the Year receive medals.  Trophies are also given to talent search participants.
